Welcome to A1 Photo Tips - a site offering some photographic tips and tidbits of hopefully useful information to make your pictures more interesting.
My name is Kai Virihaur, and I live in Sweden. So why am I writing in English? Well, I realize I can reach a much wider audience by not writing in my native language (Swedish). Swedish is only used in Sweden, plus some parts of Finland, while English is spoken and understood all over the world.
Also, I have lived and worked in the U.S. for over five years, so I guess I’ve picked up the language fairly well. But please have patience if I sometimes express myself in a “funny” way.
Ever since my childhood I have been very interested in making pictures with a camera. I guess I wasn’t very good at drawing, but still liked to express myself through a visual medium!
Snapping a photographic picture is deceptively easy. With a modern digicam you just point-and-shoot, and if you don’t like the picture you see on the screen when checking the result you can just delete it and start over.
The problem with this is that it is too easy! You tend to just do snapshots without much thought, and the result is usually rather unremarkable. To go further, you need to start educating yourself.
I have been doing some kind of self-education on photography over many years, and figured it would be fun to try and share it through this funny new medium - a Blog.
